Ready…Set…Go!!!

It feels really good to finally put my best foot forward and giving 200% towards my goal of making LeadTheWayOut.com one of the most successful, well-known, and elite websites that caters to intellectual and mature women of the LGBT community who may need a little inspiration or motivation throughout the day. I have a lot of plans and ideas for the future that seems a little overwhelming at times, but I know that with consistency and perseverance, I will get through it. Even though it seems overwhelming, the results are definitely rewarding.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

In fact, that is one of the problems I’ve been facing throughout my entire life. I have a memory from when I was 5 years old or maybe younger, of having a strong desire to open up my own business. I remember drawing a few pictures, hanging them up in the hallway of my childhood home, and creating a sign to place on our mailbox announcing that there was an art gallery inside. I had the whole thing figured out. I knew what I wanted to charge and had created a route for visitors to follow to see all “art pieces”. Some may think that this was a calling for me to become an artist, but I saw it as a way to make money without working for anyone.

WHEN IT ENDED…SO I THOUGHT

My “business” was immediately shut down by my mother when I placed the sign on the mailbox. I remember her saying that I couldn’t just invite strangers into the house, and that it would be best to show the art to family or friends who came over to visit, which was not often. So, I knew that was the end of that. Looking back, this story reminds me of the classic lemonade stand. Some parents let their kids put up a lemonade stand and get a dose of running their own business, while other parents choose to focus on the risk involved. As a result, I grew up with a lot of self-doubt and at times, a lack of confidence. Not to mention growing up and learning that I was more attracted to girls than boys, and being told that I should keep my sexual orientation a secret because I would not gain a successful career being myself. Just last year, I was even told that I should not wear my wedding ring on a trip because people would start asking questions. So you see, being my true self has always been a problem for others. But what I’ve learned and discovered was that who I was as a person has NEVER been a problem for ME.

Fast forward to the present, I see how important it is to not only be comfortable with yourself, but to also surround yourself with like-minded, forward-thinking, and positive people who will encourage you to be a better person than you were yesterday. Sometimes, family and those you think are your friends may not fully understand you. This is certainly not a bad thing, but it is good to know and to distinguish those who understand and those who don’t so that you can remain sane and motivated during your road to success.

READY FOR TAKE OFF

As I mentioned earlier, I have a lot of plans for LeadTheWayOut.com; one happens to be offering life coaching services. When I think about becoming a life coach, that self-doubt kicks in and I began to think “How can I coach someone when I could use a little coaching myself?”. After reaching out to a few people who are a life coach, just to gain more information on the industry, I learned that even some of them have life coaches. In fact, some of the people who are the greatest at what they do have someone to guide and steer them in the right direction. Recording artists who sing and dance have vocal coaches and choreographers, professional fighters have trainers, and your favorite sports player have someone to assist them in perfecting their talent.

My talent is that I have a strong passion to assist people. No matter what role I’m in, my #1 goal is to help. Whether it is being an Advertising Sales Rep for a newspaper, a Cage Supervisor for a local Casino, or a Sales Rep for a local transportation broker; my goal has never been to be the top sales person in the organization, it has always been to help. I will end this long post by stating that one should never give up. One should never let the naysayers determine how they should live their lives. Find your passion and run with it.

“Let others lead small lives, but not you. Let others argue over small things, but not you. Let others cry over small hurts, but not you. Let others leave their future in someone else’s hands, but not you.” ~Jim Rohn

Are you at the starting line? What goals are you working towards?
