INTRODUCING…MS. THAXTER

July 28, 2008

Maisha

Sporting a “Dirty South” jersey, this lady chose to rest her head and business in the sunny state of California. By staying to herself and remembering that all it takes is an idea and thought to have it all, Maisha is LeadingTheWayOut as a Self-Employed Graphic/Web Designer and owner of a modeling agency for the dominant women in our community.  Even with 5 years of experience and an Associates Degree under her belt, she is still looked upon as threatening or illicit. Maisha refused to let the opinions of others determine her success and has no problem speaking out against the discrimination that some of us are too familiar with.  You can read her response to an intriguing article that covered being a homosexual in the workplace in Black Enterprise. Maisha feels that you can have everything life permits if you take yourself seriously.  That…is when you become who you are destined to be. “Explore your greatness!”

Maisha&Sheena

After 4 years, this entrepreneur and supervisor knows that what they have is real. Riverside, CA is where these two enjoy reading, scenic drives, outings/gatherings, spending quality time together at local parks, and simply enjoying the simply things in their relationship that keeps it afloat. As owner of a STUD Production Modeling Agency, Maisha knows that communication is not only an important factor within her career, but her relationship as well. “The key in any relationship is communication. Learning to communicate with your partner keeps the relationship honest, truthful and secure. If you are honest and open to your partner, the relationship can withstand any and all circumstances.”

MEET KRIS & TAMESHA

July 14, 2008

Kris&Tamesha

Keeping others out of their personal business is how Kris & Tameka kept their relationship strong for nearly 11 years.  By handling disagreements between the two of them and never attempting to control each other, they were able to successfully build a home and family in Warner Robins, GA with their 3 beautiful children. Kris, who is a tractor trailer driver, places her entire focus on her wife Tameka, an Activity Therapist, because her job keeps her away from home for an extended amount of time. “Missing her brings me closer to her every time we come together.” These lovebirds enjoy all aspects of loving one another, along with those moments where they disagree, watching a good movie, traveling, eating a good meal, paintball, and personal time together. What goes on between the two of them, stays between the two of them, which has been working thus far.

MEET LESA & YOLANDA

July 10, 2008

Lesa&Yolanda

Lesa & Yolanda not only share a life of love, but the passion for teaching as well. These two calls Memphis, TN “home”, which they share with their 2 children.  They enjoy dining out, keeping up with the latest movies, traveling, attending church services, car shows, concerts, spending family time together, their majorette/drumline group, and following the Dallas Cowboys. For 14 years, these two have managed to keep their love and desire for each other strong by constantly reminding one another what it took to get to where they are today. “We are each other’s rock”. Prayer and commitment to the relationship and their family has been the foundation of their longevity. “Never go to bed mad”. Advice that some may forget and that many should adopt.

Amy&Christy

Congratulations to Amy & Christy who will be celebrating their 9-year Anniversary in October. In Viera, Florida, this Desktop Publisher and Sales Representative enjoy kayaking, biking, hiking, and caring for their 2 dogs and 3 cats. In their busy household, they still find time to communicate and knows that it is better to say “yes honey, you’re right” even if you disagree. Love is a beautiful thing and how they keep it fresh and new remains as a special secret that these two will hold onto until the end of time.
